New raster formats are supported as background layers. The new formats are GeoTIFF files and ESRI binary grids.
Digital Elevation Models were previously loaded as a separate layer, which was always shown on top of the other background layers on the map. The DEM is now selected amongst the raster files loaded as background layers. This allows full control on the order of layers, including the DEM file.
MIKE HYDRO can now display a longitudinal profile plot showing the river topography along branches. This profile plot can display the longitudinal profiles from the minimum level of cross sections, as well as from markers 1, 4, 5 and 6. To show a longitudinal profile for a given reach, use the 'Trace route' button in the Map ribbon bar to trace the expected route on the map.

Variables are a new type of item, for use in the Control module. Variables add more flexibility, when modelling regulated structures with advanced control rules. The purpose is to enable users to define their own variables (defined with custom equations and using sensors), which can then be used as input for the control rules. Variables can also be stored in the result files, e.g. to check the correct behavior of the defined control rules.
A blockage factor has been introduced in most of the structure types, in the form of a flow factor (factor applied to the calculated discharge). It typically allows to reduce the discharge due to obstructions. The flow factor can eventually be controlled using control rules.
