Modelling of water quality in rivers and surface water bodies
Water quality in rivers and other surface water bodies are increasingly threatened by human activity, such as pollution from point and diffuse sources, physical changes in the watershed area, change in land use, poor water treatment, inefficient operation of regulation systems and leisure activities.
Solute concentrations or temperature in river systems are simulated by a combination of our hydrodynamic MIKE HYDRO River model with advection-dispersion processes and water quality models that applies processes and reactions to pollutants throughout the river system. This combination provides unique capabilities for modelling and analysis of environmental conditions in rivers, canals and reservoirs.
Water quality processes in MIKE HYDRO River are defined in MIKE ECO Lab, our framework for ecological modelling. It is based on a stable and powerful system for solving differential equations. MIKE ECO Lab is applied by most of our MIKE Powered by DHI products for water quality modelling.
