DHI appoints new executive leadership team

Hørsholm, Denmark, 1 July 2021DHI, a global leader in water environment and water technologies, today announced five new members of the Executive Leadership Team. Recently, the company has embarked on a new strategy to enable sustainable development of the world’s water resources. To align with DHI’s strategic ambitions, the executive leadership has been re-organised and strengthened.

Climate changes and a growing population are providing significant challenges for the planet. The need to find new innovative ways to use, manage and live with water is more important than ever. With the new strategy, DHI increases the ability to innovate and advance sustainable water solutions by establishing four global business units, and an enhanced technology and innovation unit.


Cecilia Wennberg: Water in Cities

Cecilia Wennberg will lead Water in Cities

Cecilia Wennberg will lead the Water in Cities global business unit, which will focus on enabling cities, utilities and the general industry to achieve sustainable water management. Water in Cities will help customers improve daily operations and long-term strategic planning, reduce risks and environmental impact, meet regulatory compliance and justify efficient investments through DHI’s digitally enabled advisory services.

Cecilia comes from a position as Vice President for Urban Water in DHI. She has worked for 30 years in the water industry, 16 of these in DHI. Cecilia has successfully headed the Swedish office, and she has also had different roles in management, sales, business development and innovation.


Cheng Ann Tan: Marine & Coastal

Cheng Ann Tan will lead Marine & Coastal

Cheng Ann Tan will lead the Marine Infrastructure & Coastal Development global business unit. The business unit will lead marine and coastal development projects towards sustainable and nature-based solutions whilst supporting climate resilience.

Cheng Ann comes from a position as Managing Director of DHI’s Singapore Office. He has been with DHI for more than 11 years and has worked extensively with coastal development projects in the region. His has significant experience with multi-disciplinary and multi-stakeholder developments.


Mikael Kamp Sørensen: Energy & Ports

Mikael Kamp Sørensen will lead Energy & Ports

Mikael Kamp Sørensen will lead the Energy & Ports global business unit focusing on Offshore Wind, Ports & Terminals, Vessels as well as Energy & Power, developing new solutions for the sector to enable sustainable development in complex marine environments.

Mikael comes from a position as head of the Ecology and Environment Department in DHI Denmark. He joined DHI in 2003 and has held various business development and leadership positions, including eight years as Managing Director of GRAS, a DHI business unit specialising in satellite image analysis.


Stefan Szylkarski: Water Resources & Mining

Stefan Szylkarski will lead Water Resources & Mining

Stefan Szylkarski will lead the Water Resources & Mining global business unit, which will focus on enabling international development agencies, water authorities, and mining to achieve sustainable development of water resources, by combining deep domain knowledge and digital technology services.

Stefan comes from a position as head of DHI Group Sales. He joined DHI in the Copenhagen office in 1997 after working five years as a consulting engineer in Sydney, Australia, and has since worked in many of DHI’s business units across North and South America, Australia, New Zealand and Europe.


Anders Liechti: Technology & Innovation

Anders Liechti will lead Technology & Innovation

Anders Liechti will lead the new and enhanced Technology & Innovation unit, which will focus on developing DHI’s innovative global software, technology and business applications. The new unit will work in close collaboration with customers, partners, universities and the global DHI organisation in order to develop new solutions to enable the sustainable use of water.

Anders comes from a position as Senior Vice President for IT and Digital Transformation at Nilfisk A/S. Before this, he has been part of the executive management team at FOSS Analytical A/S heading up Digital Business, IT and Engineering.

They represent the global diversity of DHI and are passionate about finding new innovative ways to use, manage and live with water. I am confident that they will collaborate to lead DHI to further enable our impact on the sustainable development of water and water environments.’

In addition to the five newly appointed leaders, DHI executive team includes CEO Mette Vestergaard, CFO Arne Rasmussen, CHRO Simon Viggers, and VP Strategy Tarek Barky.
