In response to the devastating floods in Thailand in 2011, the public organisation requested DHI to help protect the country against flooding and manage available water resources efficiently.
For this purpose, we have been working in close collaboration with Hydro and Agro Informatics Institute (HAII) to establish a customised decision support system. The system enables efficient planning of water infrastructure operations as well as operational forecasting and warning for major parts of Thailand - notably the Greater Chao Phraya and ESAN river basins.
To facilitate further development and extension of this system, Mr Finn Hansen from DHI signed the MoU with Director of HAII, Dr Royol Chitradon in Bangkok on 5 November 2014.
With this partnership agreement and joint efforts, the objective is to extend the system to also include Eastern Thailand and, subsequently, the remaining parts of Thailand. The agreement is focused on joint research, project collaboration and other activities, as required to support HAII in its effort to serve as a Centre of Excellence in South East Asia within its field of operation.
