MIKE 11 hotfix 12-12-2016

This hotfix resolves an issue with NAM Rainfall Runoff model including Snow melting, where the runoff from snow melting is corrected to include dependency of the base coefficient 'T0' in agreement with the formula outlined in MIKE 11 RR reference manual.

Velocity at Maximum Flow Tool

The Velocity at maximum flow tool is a MIKE Powered by DHI Custom User Tool developed for getting, for each element in a 2D result file, the current direction at the time of either the maximum water depth or the maximum current speed, from a MIKE 21 FM simulation.

The tool reads a dynamic input *.dfsu result file containing H, U and V items, and provides the U and V velocity components corresponding to the maximum depth or speed, along with additional output items. Resulting U and V velocity components can then be used to plot vectors on maps

MIKE URBAN Weather Radar Tool 2012

The Weather Radar Tool is an add-in to MIKE URBAN. It is accessed through the "Tools | User Tools" menu. It allows application of radar data from a DHI LAWR (Local Area Weather Radar) as boundaries for a MOUSE runoff simulation. Based on LAWR radar data, the tool can extract rainfall intensity over each catchment in a MIKE URBAN model and generate the proper rainfall boundary items.

DHI MATLAB Toolbox

The DHI MATLAB Toolbox provides a number of tools and examples for working with DHI related data files. The DHI MATLAB Toolbox supports MIKE by DHI version 2012, 2014, 2016 and 2017.

WHY A MATLAB TOOLBOX?

The DHI MATLAB Toolbox provides a compact high-level technical programming/scripting language, which allows swift handling of time series data, analysis, visualisation and presentation. The MATLAB environment is very much hands-on and can be used without special programming skills for custom analysis of results from numerical models.

It only requires that MIKE SDK (Software Development Kit) is installed. There is no need to install the full MIKE Zero (>1 GB download), just install the MIKE SDK (~50 MB). The MIKE SDK does not require any licence. The updated version of the toolbox supports reading of network results, such as results from MIKE 11, MIKE 1D or MIKE URBAN/MOUSE. This includes files with extensions .res11, .res1d, .prf, .xrf, .trf, .crf. This requires that MIKE Zero with MIKE 11 or MIKE URBAN is installed.

IfmMIKE11 couples our groundwater software FEFLOW with our surface water software MIKE 11. This version of IfmMIKE11 is fully compatible with FEFLOW 6.2 (p. 15 or higher) , 7.0 (u. 11 or higher) and FEFLOW 7.1 (u. 2 or higher) and MIKE 2017. The current plug-in version only supports the coupling with 3D standard layered-based models (prismatic elements) in FEFLOW. The use of integral boundary conditions is only supported for FEFLOW 7.1 (u. 2 or higher).

K2MOUSE converts sewer data from the German ISYBAU K format to a format, which MIKE URBAN can import (UND and HGF files).

Global Tide Model

MIKE 21 Global Tide model - data for tidal prediction. An improved version of the Global Tide Model is available in 0.125º x 0.125º resolution. The model is updated with additional 4 years of radar satellite measurement and 2 additional constituents has been added providing better predictions in shallow water. The updated model includes the following 10 constituents: Semidiurnal: M2, S2, K2, N2 - Diurnal: S1, K1, O1, P1, Q1 - Shallow water: M4.

The data can conveniently be copied to the default folder for tidal constituents (e.g. C:\Program Files (x86)\DHI\2017\MIKE Zero\Application Data\Tide Constituents). The Global Tide Model is developed by DTU Space. Go to the DTU10 global ocean tide model for more information.

Res1d extraction tools

The Res1d extraction tools are MIKE Powered by DHI Custom User Tools developed for the purpose of exporting results information to text files or time series, from a *.res1d result file from a MIKE HYDRO River, a MIKE URBAN or eventually a MIKE 11 simulation.

Two different tools are provided, respectively exporting statistical information (minimum and maximum values, along with coordinates of the calculation point and elevations of cross sections markers) and time series. Both tools are provided with their source codes, written respectively in C# and Python, to allow user customising the tools for their own needs, using MIKE SDK.

This hotfix is related to the MIKE 1D engine only. The hotfix ensures that controllable structure function correctly for gate levels below 0, and that culverts calculates Q-h relations correctly for a multiple culvert (no culverts > 1) structure.

MIKE 21 FM & MIKE 3 FM Hotfix 07-06-2013

This hotfix enables the control over the z-level behaviour for ABM/ECOLab particles as in normal particle tracking. In the section “[SOLUTION_TECHNIQUE]” of the ECOLab settings the keyword “type_of_vertical_transport = 1” (new default) triggers that vertical movement of a particle is based on its relative position in the water column, with “type_of_vertical_transport = 0” on its absolute z-position.

To reproduce old setups manually set “type_of_vertical_transport = 0” and run via MzLaunch.exe.

This hotfix enables customers to properly export information to MOUSE Project file type (.mpr). When a MOUSE project file (.mpr) is created two complementary files are also created one regarding hydrology information (.hgf) and one containing the network information (.und). This exporting capacity enhances communication for external data handling workflows.

Topography Adjustment Tool 2012

The Topography Adjustment Tool can be used to adjust a .DFS2 file using a polygon shape file to select the grid cells of interest. It can, for example, be used to adjust topography values in dfs2 files (used in MIKE 21 surface water flow models) based on a polygon shape file of buildings or roads.

This tool works for MIKE by DHI 2012. For later versions, please download the Shape2MIKE tool.

MIKE HYDRO hotfix 15-05-2017

The following MIKE HYDRO Basin Hotfix corrects an existing limitation to 510 time series for all catchments, when the weighting time series has been included in a rainfall runoff simulation of a Mike Hydro Basin model. With the fix, no limitations in number of time series exists in practice.

This MIKE HYDRO Basin hotfix disable an outdated warning from times when routing branches were not allowed in branches located downstream to a confluence node or downstream to a reservoir node. This hotfix does not change the computational engine’s behaviour, but only disables the incorrect and unnecessary warning message.

MOUSE Vertical Datum

The MOUSE Vertical Datum Tool will shift the vertical datum for a MIKE URBAN MOUSE model. You simply select a database, enter a correction factor and all attributes containing levels/heights will be shifted. The tool is a stand-alone Windows application. Copy the file to your hard disc and execute. This tool only works with .mdb type databases and for MIKE URBAN 2011 and later versions. It works for the following operating systems: XP Professional 32 bit and Windows 7 32 bit.

If a simulation has ended unexpectedly MIKE VIEW cannot open the resulting file. This hot-fix gives the user the option of updating the result file continuously throughout the simulation to ensure that the file is readable in MIKE VIEW.
Note that to activate the updating the user needs to specify an updating frequency in the MIKE11.ini file: The switch is in the mike11.ini file:

Excel copy/paste

The Excel copy/paste tool will copy a complete MIKE URBAN table to Excel and copy it back after editing. This is a crude tool with no built in security - but it can be handy at times. The source code for this tool can also be downloaded. Please improve it and let us share your improvements. Please note that this tool does not work with MIKE URBAN 2009. This tool works for MIKE URBAN 2012 and later versions.

MIKE HYDRO hotfix 24-10-2017

This MIKE HYDRO Basin hotfix prevents delete values of concentrations to propagate downstream in the basin network. Therefore a zero-upstream contribution is included for these reaches, and a warning is issued in the log file. It also increase the maximum number of warnings from the current value of 100 to an extended value of 5000, which is more realistic for large models. Finally, the hotfix also includes a new result item, namely the reach storage, which is part of the reaches that have a routing method within the reach.

Shape to XYZ Conversion Tool

The Shape to XYZ Conversion Tool is a MIKE by DHI custom user tool. It is developed for the purpose of facilitating the use of shape files as boundary lines in the Mesh Generator. The tool is capable of reading the geometric information from a point, polyline or polygon shape file and then generating an XYZ file in the format required by the Mesh Generator.

This fixes several issues in the MIKE 1D and MOUSE engine: In the HTML summary, the Catchment continuity balance has been fixed for RDI/NAM and combined catchments (RDI+A etc.). The runoff model C2 (French model) using Horton Infiltration has been fixed, and also use of an unspecified lagtime has been fixed. The runoff model UHM has a performance issue fixed. In MOUSE a Horton Infiltration time issue has been fixed.

FEFLOW is our software for groundwater and porous media modelling. FEFLOW enables you to simulate a multitude of processes involving fluid flow, groundwater-age, contaminant and heat transport in saturated and unsaturated porous media.

VaryingBC Plug-in

This FEFLOW plug-in sets and removes boundary conditions and constraints for specific time intervals and node groups. In addition to standard FEFLOW functionality (with modulation functions and/or gaps in time series) it directly supports pressure BCs and switching between different BC types for the same node.

MinMaxHead Plug-in

This FEFLOW plug-in can be used to log the minimum, maximum and mean hydraulic-head values for each node during the simulation run, plus the simulation time at which the extreme value has occured.

RiverWaterDepth Plug-in

This FEFLOW plug-in allows to assemble time-varying river water levels from (time-varying) water depth and river bottom elevation, e.g., to avoid linear interpolation between water levels at gauging stations, instead using linear interpolation of water depth.

IfmLake Plug-in

This FEFLOW plug-in calculates a lake water level from exchange with groundwater and external sources/sinks. The horizontal lake extent is modified according to water level and ground elevation.

OpenLoop Plug-in

This FEFLOW plug-in relates temperature and/or concentration(s) at extraction and injection boreholes by applying a differential. It is applied, for example, to open-loop geothermal installations and pump-and-treat systems.

BetaGamma Plug-in

This FEFLOW plug-in expands the built-in thermodynamic model for the density of water, incorporating pressure and temperature effects (Temp = 0 ... 350° C and p = 0 ... 100 MPa). See also White Papers Vol. III chapter 2.

VaryingSaltwaterHead Plug-in

This FEFLOW plug-in sets equivalent freshwater head boundary conditions based on time series for varying saltwater head and automatically applies seepage-face conditions above the sea water table.

In network mode, all users in the organisation share a pool of floating licences managed by the DHI Network License Manager component. The DHI Network License Manager component is installed on a central server. From the server, it acts as an 'accountant' keeping track of the number of concurrent users by checking the available licences in and out of the shared pool of licences.

Since we installed Service Pack 3 for MIKE 2016 and MIKE HYDRO hotfix 01-12-2016 load calculator doesn’t allow us to use: SOURCES -> TIME DISTRIBUTION -> Distribute according to runoff. We get the error: “cannot distribute to runoff, because different properties of used times series…disable ‘distribute according to runoff’ or fit series used in panel “Catchments” to catchment definition in MIKE HYDRO”. Error doesn’t appear on Mike 2016 without Service Pack and Hotfix. The MIKE HYDRO hotfix 01-12-2016 has been removed from the available lists of hotfixes. This hotfix solves the problem, besides improving the error messaging in case any catchment time series has a different number of time steps.

This hotfix resolves the following issues:

  1. The calculation of the updated LAV curve was numerically unstable when the new zero level is close to the old one for reservoirs type I, II and III. For that reason the update will be postponed to later time steps when the new value is too close to the old one, avoiding these numerical problems.
  2. The routing of sediments had mass errors, resulting on negative values for the virtual sediment on reaches.
  3. Numerical error in the calculation of the new zero level for the sedimentation of the reservoir (levels of current LAV curve were wrongly read as integer instead of doubles).

    • When the tool MIKE to Google Earth uses a 7 parameter datum transformation, the rotations aren’t converted from arcsecs to radians. Similarly the scaling difference isn’t converted from ppm to a normalized dimensionless value. This could result in huge transformation errors.
    • The MZ Tool Georeferencing Image cannot handle all ESRI world files. It’s only capable of handling files with "Carriage Return"/"Line Feed" = CRLF. It cannot handle files with only CR. In this case, it throwed an exception.
